Help for Ukrainian LGBTQ+ couple escaping the war

Descripción: Hello I would like to explain our situation and would like to know how you or another company can help us. Me and my boyfriend want to leave our country Ukraine in that cases: There is already was three attempts to give us a summons for involvement in military/war operations. We can't cross the border officially because for illegal border crossing there is criminal liability. But we have an opportunity do this illegal. We want to ask for help in Spain like a LGBTQ+ people. We are a couple of gays, even if we get an summons to the army, our community is homophobic and they (that's why we afraid too) can shoot us only because we are gays, there is no one legal laws of protecting LGBTQ+ people. In our city people gets summons to the army not only at home, and even in shops, streets, supermarkets. Fear of being mobilized prevents us from even going to the store for buying some foods. In Ukraine, there are already recorded cases of people being sent unprepared and they were killed there in a few days, because it is impossible to learn military affairs in a week or two. We can't leave our border officially so when we will arrived in EU we will not have stamp of visiting. How should we act? Is there a possibility of a certain humanitarian corridor already on the territory of the EU or advise other tools of our rescue and subsequent legalization in Spain. Tell us please can we expect help from your organization or similar? We can't stay here and we will not can't back into Ukraine Help us save our lives Thanks in advance

Hello,

In your case, the options you have once you arrive in Spain/UE are:

  • Apply for Temporary Protection: this is guarnteed to people arriving in Spain from Ukraine who are fleeing from the conflict. You will be able to work straight away once applying for temporary protection.

  • Apply for asylum: asylum protection may be an option to you based on the fact you are an LGBT couple and face discrimination in Ukraine. This process will require you to attend a police interview and you will need to provide evidence that you are discriminated against due to your sexual orientation. This process is much longer and it will take longer to get right to work documents.

Follow the attached links to understand more about the process and to see the website for ´cita previa´ (prior appointment) to apply for Temporary Protection/asylum when you arrive in Spain:
